About Our ClubThe Investment Club is an official student organization at the University of Florida and is open to any MBA student interested in the stock market, in building an intelligent strategy towards investing in their retirement, or in learning more about careers in investing. The club meets to learn more about the stock market and its effects on corporate financing decisions, strategies for personal investment, and how professional money managers select securities and manage portfolios. This club attracts experienced and knowledgeable teachers and business leaders for a series of meetings. Our MissionOur Mission is to give our members an overview of the universe of firms that might be doing investment work like; Florida MBA Investment Club also holds meetings, discussing small business investment companies. These are privately capitalized venture capital firms, which are eligible to receive federal loans to augment the private funds invested in them. Small business investment companies are privately managed, but are licensed and regulated by the Small Business Administration. We support our members with achieving a good handle on the the required skill set for an
associate position in leading financial institutions, both in the governmental
and private sectors. Some of the skills are not required for some junior positions, but
are mostly valued in managerial positions. We help our members to improve their ability to develop these skills over time.
